Theodore Kaczmar Jr. , MD

Board-certified Neurosurgeon

Theodore Kaczmar Jr., MD is a board-certified neurosurgeon who utilizes the most advanced technologies and procedures for brain and spine surgeries including microsurgical, computer-assisted and minimally invasive techniques. He received his biology degree, cum laude, from Princeton University in 1975. In 1979, he earned his medical degree at Washington University, St. Louis. He completed an internship in surgery and a residency in neurosurgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was associate research scientist, Section of Neurosurgery at Yale University School of Medicine and chief resident in neurosurgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He is board-certified by and a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Kaczmar is a member of the medical staffs of Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (where he serves as a member of its Bioethics Committee), Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, the Monterey Peninsula Surgery Centers and Natividad Medical Center. He is a member of the American Medical Association, California Medical Association, Monterey County Medical Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Western Neurosurgical Society, California Association of Neurological Surgeons (where he served as president in 2013) and the Federation of the International College of Surgeons. He is a frequent medical volunteer at the Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System Medical Facility at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and at Palma High School. He and his wife live in Salinas and have two grown daughters. He enjoys motor racing, astronomy and golf.
